Steps you can take now, to save more later

Set up automated payments on payday

Take the effort out of saving by automating it. Set up a Direct Debit for payday, or save straight from your salary if your employer offers payroll saving with Plane Saver. Once it's set up, your savings can grow quietly in the background. Scroll down to explore our savings accounts.

Save small but regularly

You don't need to save hundreds each month to make a difference. After 30 years of helping members save, we've found that saving little and often is more effective than saving large amounts you later need to withdraw. We recommend starting with as little as £20 a month.

Open a separate savings account

Keeping your savings separate from your everyday spending makes it easier to leave them untouched. Consider opening a dedicated savings account with another bank or credit union to reduce the temptation to dip in. Not sure of the difference? Read our blog: Credit Union vs Bank: What's the Difference?

Start thinking long term

Saving is a habit, not a race. Instead of focusing on what you can save this month, think about where consistent saving could take you over the next few years. Small steps today can build lasting financial confidence for the future.
